 Winning the Trailblazer ASEAN Scholarship has provided me with the opportunities to pursue my goals in education and life. Growing up in a less privileged community has not only presented financial and academic challenges but more importantly, made me realise the value of a university education. I have dreamt of studying beyond Malaysian shores ever since I was young and now that I have been named as one of the recipients of the Trailblazer ASEAN Scholarship, my dream has become a reality.
During my second year in Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, I received an offer to participate in a student exchange programme at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom. I was glad that Trailblazer Foundation gave me the encouragement to accept the offer. It was the best decision I have made thus far in my life. During the programme, I was exposed to so many new experiences - including meeting many people from countries that I knew little about. Being displaced in a foreign culture and going through the transition - from alienation to acceptance and understanding of the new environment - was definitely unforgettable and enjoyable.
Without patrons like Trailblazer Foundation, there would be many students like myself who would be unable to pursue the careers they dream of. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Foundation for its generous support of my continuing education. There are no words to express my gratitude for this wonderful helping hand. I will do my best to make the scholarship committee proud by always giving 110% effort in all my studies. I hope to show my appreciation by contributing back to society and education once I have graduated.
